As part of our exciting summer activities schedule in Dundee, young people were given the opportunity to take part in a Leadership Development activity week. This gave them the chance to gain either a SCQF Level 4 Award in Sports Leadership or a Young Leader Award.
The course provides young people with the opportunity to develop their leadership skills, which can be applied to a variety of sports, social and recreational situations, as well as contributing to their personal development.
Nine young people, aged between 10 and 15 participated in a variety of fun and engaging activities at a local sports facility, where they learned the key aspects of leadership, such as organisation, communication and teamwork. The course also helped build confidence and self-esteem. They showed great effort and commitment each day and displayed a mature approach to the learning aspects of the course.
The qualifications evidence that the young people developed and delivered activity-based sessions for their peers, using the knowledge that they gained from the course. At this stage, we are still awaiting confirmation on the awards, but given the great work, we are hopeful to see 4 young people receiving their SCQF Level 4 Award in Sports Leadership and 5 young people receiving their Young Leader Award.
A massive well done to everyone that took part!
