Our Skills to Foster training  is currently taking place, giving prospective foster carers a fascinating insight into what fostering involves.

Skills to Foster training

Run by the Permanence Foster Care team, the reins have been passed from Annie and Jenni to Kreisha and Eleanor, and they have been keen to get going and meet our prospective foster carers. Thankfully, we are welcoming back Carol Anne, an experienced foster carer, who is a veteran of delivering the Skills to Foster Training. She is amazing at sharing all her experience of providing permanent care.

The training is run over four weekends and applicants will get to meet our other team members. Prospective carers will be joined at different times by our Therapist, Education Advisor and our Senior Practitioner, who will pass on their knowledge, and tell everyone about their roles in supporting them through the process and beyond.

Future carers will also have the privilege of hearing from a young person living with one of our fostering families. It’s incredibly powerful listening to them tell their story. In past session, this has always been the highlight for prospective carers.

Kreisha and Eleanor are keen to help the prospective foster carers explore the role of a permanence carer and to assist in the assessment process. We’re looking forward to developing positive relationships with the applicants whom we hope will go on to foster permanently with us.
