7 Types of Home-Finding Arrangements Available

We provide a full range of short-term, long-term or respite foster arrangements for children and young people aged from 0-21 years.

Our carers benefit from comprehensive training both pre and post approval and our thorough, competence based assessment process helps to ensure the best possible matches.

Arrangement Types with Swiis:

  • Short-term / task centred arrangements, working towards specific goals. These may include assessment arrangements, bridging and preparation for adoption, permanency or arrangements which meet other specific care plan objectives.
  • Planned longer-term arrangements for individual children or young people and sibling groups. Carers are available who are able to make a longer-term commitment and offer stability for young people until they are in a position to become independent.
  • Sibling arrangements are also available as we recognise the importance of keeping families together. We have carers who can provide the right space, skills and energy to meet the demands of these arrangements.
  • Parent and child arrangements are provided with carers who have experience and a particular interest in helping young people to develop their parenting skills and can offer assessment and monitoring as required.
  • Arrangements for children with disabilities are offered on a full time or respite basis. Our team identifies carers with the skills and experience to meet this particular need and we also provide additional training where necessary.
  • Short break and respite arrangements are available to support children’s current arrangements, providing respite for birth families or a ‘home base’ for children attending residential schools.
  • Unplanned, short notice or emergency arrangements may also be available, including the possibility of arrangements for sanctuary-seekers, unaccompanied minors or other specialist arrangements. We know that each arrangement brings its own unique opportunities and we take great care to develop structured programmes to support children, young people and their carers each step of the way.

Home-Finding Team

The Home-Finding Team will identify a suitable referral of a child or young person in need of a fostering arrangement that matches the Foster Carer’s profile, the area they are based, approval range, family composition and fostering experience.

Quality Assurance and Governance

As a nationally reputed provider, Swiis Foster Care Scotland strives continually to improve the outcomes delivered to the children and young people in our care. We invest significantly in staff training, carer training and software management tools to help us measure the quality of the outcomes we achieve.

“I would just like to share how impressed we have been with Sandra’s high level of care. We don’t always get the chance to share this due to J always being around but life would be so much better for looked after kids if they all had a carer as nurturing, understanding and caring as Sandra.”
